On Sept. 17 get out on the links for the Third Annual Golf Tournament in Loving Memory of Dave Stead Sr.
“Dave always believed in helping close to home. This is what our commitment is as a society,” says Georgina Kyllo, president.
Last year was a successful tournament at Eagle River Golf Course, 48 happy golfers attended and had a great day even though they were unfortunate to have rain showers most of the day. Each golfer received a prize and funds raised were put back into the community and surrounding area.
Many others came out and enjoyed a great steak dinner and participated in raffles, 50/50 and the Chip-in-ski Tournament.
Donations were made to the following from the 2010 Tournament:
• Eagle River Secondary School Bursary $500
• Sicamous Preschool Yearly Sponsorship $500
• Shuswap Resource Centre $250
• Darren Wilby Fundraiser $250
• Sponsorship to Brady Stead Provincial Junior Golf $250.
The goal this year is to continue support as stated, as well as to sponsor a junior golfer for the 2012 golf season.
“We would like to take this opportunity to ask for your help in assuring this is another successful event. By donating a prize or a donation to the Dave Stead Memorial Society we would be very grateful and truly appreciate your generosity,” says Kyllo.
The society is hoping more golfers will attend the event with their own team and enjoy a fun day with friends and family.
As part of the fun this year, a a local band called Lead Painted Toys will provide entertainment and there will be houseboat vacations as prizes, as well as a weekend at Silver Star Ski Resort, which includes accommodation and a day ski pass for two.
