Good morning, Kelowna. Hope you had a lovely weekend. If you were out and about you may have noticed it’s starting to feel a bit like Christmas, with retailers and city staff rolling out the holiday treatment. Mother Nature, as you’ll see, is a bit slower on the draw.
1.) The country’s weather prognosticators are saying it will be mainly cloudy today with a 30 per cent of showers. Snow is definitely falling in the hills, but down below the expected high temperature of 9 C will keep the white stuff away until Friday.
2.) Donald Trump continues to cause tumult in his own country as well as out here. This weekend an anti-Trump rally was held in Kelowna and our reporter Warren Henderson covered the event. What’s bound to create more controversy, however, is the American Music Awards performance by Green Day. The band’s front-man Bille Joe Armstrong chanted the lyrics “No Trump. No KKK. No fascist USA” to mixed reviews.

4.) Now that we’re talking about roads, let’s discuss Highway 97. It’s the issue Peachlanders will be discussing today at an open house.
5.) Finally, the political bromance that inspired cartoons and awkward outpourings of affection has come to an end. Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and U.S. President Barack Obama attended the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation leaders’ summit this weekend. The conference in Peru was dominated by talk about global trade in the Donald Trump era. Here’s our PM’s goodbye Tweet.
