Good morning, Kelowna. Hope your day is getting to a solid start. Here are five items that will get you prepared for the conversations that will likely ensue.

1.) The weather. It’s still cold. It’s still icy. Environment Canada says today’s high temperature will be a whopping -13 C and the low will be – 16 C. Wear a parka and be careful on the roads. Check out this ice-induced crash, if you need incentive.

2.) Today is budget day at the City of Kelowna. Curious why you’ll be paying more taxes? Reporter Alistair Waters will be at the meeting today covering the highlights and posting stories. Refresh as often as you see fit. Also we will be retweeting the hashtag #KelownaBudget if you’re the Twitter-minded type.

3.) Kelowna Rocket Dillon Dube  will be representing his country at the 2017 world junior hockey championship in Montreal and Toronto.

4.) As the homelessness issues in Kelowna become more pronounced more people are chipping in their voices. One woman spoke to reporter Alistair Waters and explained how she was exploited during her lowest moments.

5.) Prime Minister Justin Trudeau is scheduled to sit down with indigenous leaders today, the one-year anniversary of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission’s final report.

Have a great day!
