Good Morning, Kelowna. Hope you're not suffering too much from 'falling back' an hour, this Nov. 7

Good morning, Kelowna. Hope you’re not suffering too much from losing an hour of sleep this morning. The good news is that it’s practically balmy out there. Read that and more in our Monday update.

1.) Today is expected to be cloudy with a 30 percent chance of showers this morning and early this afternoon. That’s a small price to pay for the warmth we’re expecting. A super 14 C day is ahead of us, and that’s expected to break some records.

2.) Hundreds gathered in Stuart Park Sunday, carrying signs reading “Water Not Oil,”  “No More Exploitation of Mother Earth,” and “I Can’t Drink Oil.”  They were there in solidarity with Standing Rock Sioux Nation’s fight against the construction of a contentious oil pipeline in North Dakota.

The project is the Dakota Access Pipeline and is intended to transport light sweet crude oil from the Bakken oil field near the Canadian border to Illinois.  To see the videos and photos people took of their event, go here.

3.) Good news for transit users this morning. Although they have been eligible to strike since Sunday afternoon, transit drivers won’t likely remove service until Wednesday. Read more about it, here.

4.) Tomorrow is election day in the USA! It’s been an interesting process to watch from this side of the border. One of the most talked about issues has been Hillary Clinton’s emails.  FBI Director James Comey abruptly announced Sunday that a review of newly discovered emails sent or received by Clinton has not changed his conclusion that the Democrat should not face criminal charges.

Saturday Night took its last stab at comedic coverage. Here it is:

5.) Finally, the prime minister is expected to make an announcement in Vancouver today about the future of responses to tanker and fuel spills along the West Coast.

Now go have a great day!
