Weather outlook: Today will give us a high of 14C in Kelowna with mostly sunny skies. A south wind will keep it feeling chilly. The Connector Hwy 97C was reporting strong crosswinds at 3:30 this morning. Good chance they’re still there challenging drivers to hang on. The overnight fog might take a while to lift, from Brenda Mines to Pennask Summit.
In local news: The builder of a 24-storey hotel at the foot of Queensway is delaying start of the project until late 2017. Westcorp says the delay is to explore some “desired design revisions.”
In business: Online gamer WTFast Gamers Private Network says it will soon take up residence in the Okanagan Innovation Centre, nearing construction completion at the corner of Doyle and Ellis in downtown Kelowna. In a press release owner Rob Bartlett said Accelerate Okanagan has “helped us from inception to the fast growing company we are today. Being neighbours in the OCI will allow our relationship to continue to grow.”
What to do today: If you live around the Kelowna General Hospital, work there or visit often, see what the city is recommending for on-street parking and transportation. Meet with planners to discuss future redevelopment land use in the neighbourhood. Today, Nov. 3 from 4 to 6:30 p.m at the Clinical Academic Campus Lecture Theatre, 2312 Pandosy St. Visit the project page.
