SURREY — A security guard was shot at in Whalley Thursday night (Aug. 27) after trying to help someone who was being attacked.

Luckily, the Good Samaritan wasn’t hit.

Just before midnight, police received reports of a shot being fired and a fight on the street in the 113B Avenue and 132nd Street.

After arriving at the scene, officers found a man, a security guard, who said he’d seen one man being attacked by several others.

He intervened and the alleged attackers ran away, he told police.

But then, a short time later, a truck came by and grabbed the injured man and someone inside shot at the security guard, perhaps thinking he was one of the attackers.

The vehicle and three men were located in the 12900-block of 100th Avenue, and the victim has been taken to a local hospital.

Nobody was actually shot and everyone is expected to be fine, police say.

Investigators continue to hunt for the men involved in the original attack.
