Kelowna’s Gospel Mission will host a Thanksgiving Dinner Monday, Oct. 12 from noon to 6 p.m. in their new dining room at 259 Leon Ave. The meal is open to anyone in the community. No reservations needed.
Before Kelowna’s Gospel Mission serves over 800 meals on Thanksgiving Day, they will have a ceremonious ribbon cutting to commemorate the opening of their new dining room which doubles the capacity of the existing space.
Mayor Colin Basran, councillors Mohini Singh, Ryan Donn, Tracy Gray, along with MP Ron Cannan & MLA Norm Letnick are among the 50 volunteers who will celebrate along side the Mission as well as serve the meals. The homeless and people in need will be able to enjoy a delicious, traditional Thanksgiving meal of turkey, ham, mashed potatoes, vegetables, cranberry sauce, rolls and pie.
“We have waited a long time for the expansion of our dining room and are so pleased that it comes on Thanksgiving Day where we reflect on how grateful we are for all we have,” said Randy Benson, Executive Director of Kelowna’s Gospel Mission.
“The people at our shelter need to feel love and know that people care about them. Thanksgiving is a special occasion that will be felt for days, weeks and months to come.”
