Moms were crying as they sent their children off to get suited up in the royal blue and white gowns at the Performing Arts Centre Thursday afternoon.
A pair of W.L. Seaton grads will miss the time spent in Seaton’s halls, but are looking forward to a busy summer in the post-high school era.
“I am going to miss the diversity and good times. You always had a friend at Seaton,” said Antonya Crosby.
Crosby will represent the city of Vernon as a B.C. Ambassador Program candidate this summer. Her duties will include volunteering in communities and being actively involved in Vernon as they promote education, motivation and self-esteem.
Crosby was encouraged to be actively involved in the community from her days as Princess Silver Star in 2013.
“I had to travel lots back then, make new friends and volunteer in the community. I decided that I wanted to take it to the next level in B.C.,” said Crosby.
She hopes to be one of the three new B.C. ambassadors proclaimed August 16.
It was finally Russell Day’s turn for graduation and he was having a blast.
“I went to my brother’s grad a few years ago and that was cool. It’s a little different when you are the one walking across the stage,” said Day.
As for life after Seaton, Day isn’t quite sure yet, unless something pops up via the golf course.
“I’m just going to work at Vernon Golf and Country and play some (golf) tournaments in the States. If something comes up, I will play it by ear,” said Day.
Day played on the Sonics golf and volleyball team and has been working at VGCC for five years.
The lefty would love to head down south to California or Florida on a golf scholarship.
