Boundary Museum and Interpretive Centre held the grand opening of its solar panel project on Saturday, June 27. Caleb Schmidt of Sunfind Solar Products Inc. of Red Deer, Alta, gave a presentation on the project, and answered questions ranging from life span of the panels and batteries to the costs of residential and commercial systems.
The day featured hosting a lunch for the Rotary Club of Grand Forks and its visitors; volunteers also demonstrated bread-making, usually held on Thursdays. (Above) Bill Chiveldave manned the oven while Doreen Sorensen (left) and Irene Perepolkin prepared their best recipes and shared the finished loaves with onlookers. The museum uses a historic, outdoor brick oven. The Pride of the Valley flour used is milled locally at the Grand Forks Doukhobor Heritage Hilling Society’s original 1915 location on Mill Road using non-GMO, regionally grown grain and applying the same technology they built over 100 years ago.
