Despite the fact that the Grand Forks Border Bruins’ next home game is against the Penticton Lakers, the team will be taking the show on the road.
The game is scheduled for tomorrow (Saturday, Jan. 14) at 7 p.m. and will be played at the Boundary Expo Recreation Centre in Midway – 735 7th Avenue, Midway, B.C.
“It’s a home game and we decided to play it out there to get that community involved as well,” explained interim head coach Matt Zamec.
“We did this a couple of years ago and it was quite successful. We had a lot of people come out, there was a very enthusiastic reception and we figured we’d do it again and give (Midway) a KIJHL (Kootenay International Junior Hockey League) game and hopefully we’ll get a good turnout.”
The Border Bruins will also be hosting a movie night fundraiser at the Gem Theatre this coming Wednesday (Jan. 18); the Kurt Russell movie Miracle will be shown at 7 p.m.
The team lost its Thursday, Jan. 12 home game against the Beaver Valley Nitehawks by a final of 11-2.
