June 15 11:00 am to 2:00 pm, members of the Rotary Club of Qualicum Beach are welcoming the public to a “grand opening” of Rotary park for the summer of 2013. This popular destination for meetings, parties, and picnics has been refurbished to give the park a fresh and renewed look to make any planned summer gathering a success.
This facility, which has been in operation since 1979, has been home to more than 60 community events each year scheduled from May to September. Rotary operates Rotary Park in memory of Bert Welch, a former Rotarian, the Town’s first mayor, a Rotary District Governor, and later an MLA.
The Grand Opening 2013 will include a visit by local celebrities, light refreshments compliments of Rotary, and of course the wonderful ocean view which makes the Park a popular destination. Members of the public are most welcome to attend.
Over the years the Insurance Centres office staff in Qualicum Beach (formerly Thwaites-Norris Insurance) has worked with Rotarians to book Rotary Park and serve many community groups. The fees for Park rental are reinvested for maintenance and all funds raised in excess of operation are given to local community and charitable projects. There are many individuals and community groups which have benefitted from revenues related to park rentals.
Anyone wishing to rent Rotary Park is invited to contact the Vancouver Island Insurance Centres Office in Qualicum Beach (250-752-6961) to make a booking and enjoy Rotary’s gem on the beach.
