Grand opening of Cariboo display at Canada Winter Games this Saturday

The grand opening of the Cariboo Chilcotin Coast Display at games will take place on Saturday, Feb. 14 at 10 a.m.

The official grand opening of the Cariboo Chilcotin Coast Display at the Canada Winter Games in Prince George will take place on Saturday, Feb. 14 at 10 a.m.

The display is located in the parking lot of the Four Seasons Leisure Pool.

Included in this event will be an official welcoming of the Cariboo Chilcotin Coast and the Northern Shuswap Tribal Council to the traditional territory of the Lheidli T’enneh by Chief Dominic Frederick and Council.

On hand to receive the welcome will be Canim Lake Band Chief Mike Archie.

This ceremony and the official opening of the display will also be a part of an upcoming episode of HGTV’s Timber Kings.

Throughout the games our local communities will be featured in five, three-day activations. Cariboo Regional District  from Feb. 14-16, Williams Lake from Feb 17-19, 100 Mile House  from Feb 20-22, Quesnel  from Feb 23-25 and Wells from Feb. 26-28.

Some of the demonstrations that will be featured as part of the Cariboo Chilcotin Coast interactive displays will include an autograph session with the Timber Kings, roping demonstrations, sampling of locally made beef pepperoni, wood working demonstrations, hoop dancers, and a visit from some special guests from Barkerville.
