Grandparent scam returns

Oak Bay police received a report of an unknown male who called an elderly female pretending to be her grandson and convinced her to send him money Nov. 16.

The incident is still under investigation.

 

 

Vehicles targeted

An unlocked vehicle parked in the 900-block of Transit Road was entered sometime during the night Nov. 16. A first aid kit was taken, police reported.

Sometime overnight Nov. 19, an unknown culprit smashed the passenger window of a vehicle parked in the 2000-block of Oak Bay Ave and stole a laptop.

Thieves targeted a vehicle parked in the 3500-block of Redwood Avenue sometime overnight Nov. 20. Items stolen include assorted tools.

An unlocked vehicle was entered overnight parked in the 3000-block of Larkdowne Road and  rifled through, nothing appears to have been taken.

 

 

Man with camera causes concern

Around 4:20 p.m. Nov. 17 a concerned citizen reported to police that she watched an older male take several pictures of two young children who were walking their dog in south Oak Bay.

Police describe the man as being in his 60s, five-foot, 10-inches tall, wearing a red puffy jacket and driving a red pickup truck. Police searched the area and were unsuccessful in locating the truck.

 

 

Destructive drunks

At 10:30 p.m. Nov. 18 police received a complaint of three intoxicated males in the 3800-block of Gordon Head Road who were observed kicking the passenger-side mirror off a parked vehicle, police said. A neighbour gave chase but did not catch the suspects.

 

 

Thieves target home

 

A home under construction in the 2700-block of Foul Bay Road was broken into sometime overnight Nov. 19. The incident is still under investigation.
