Ron Cantelon isn’t wasting any time in his new job as minister of state for seniors.
The Parksville-Qualicum MLA said this week the province has announced the creation of a special, $650,000 fund to help communities become more age-friendly.
The money, he said, will be jointly administered by the province and by the Union of B.C. Municipalities and will be used to provide information to help B.C. towns and cities become more able to respond to the needs of seniors.
“I think we are leading the way in Oceanside,” Cantelon said. “We can teach much to other communities because we’re 10 years ahead of the entire rest of the country.”
