A grass fire started on the West Bench at the WOW Golf Club on Thursday afternoon.
Capt. Glen Beierle, from the Penticton Fire Department said a worker at the golf course told them there was kids seen in the area prior to the fire starting and believed it was a discarded lit cigarette that started the grass fire.
“It shows you that the stuff is still dry. A little bit of wind and a little bit of fire and there you go,” said Beierle, who could not confirm what the actual cause of the fire was.
