Andrew Weaver, leader of the B.C. Green Party, will tour the Nelson-Creston riding with candidate Kim Charlesworth on March 28 and 29.
On March 28, Weaver and Charlesworth will speak at Green Groundswell, a town hall meeting at the Prestige at 7:00 p.m. They will explain their vision of a green economy and Green government. A question period will follow.
On March 29, Weaver will meet with the Chamber of Commerce and with the media, and will tour the Kootenay Co-op store.
“Andrew will be here to listen and learn about Nelson-Creston,” Charlesworth said.
“We are excited to share with him the unique qualities of our riding and explore where we feel advocacy in the legislature can benefit our often ignored communities.”
Weaver’s trip to Nelson replaces a publicized visit that was planned for February but cancelled due to bad weather.
Weaver, who represents the Oak Bay – Gordon Head riding, is the only Green Party MLA in B.C. He is a climate scientist and a professor at the University of Victoria.
In the May 9 election, Charlesworth will be up against incumbent MLA Michelle Mungall of the NDP, the BC Liberals’ Tanya Wall, and independent candidate Tom Prior.
