Cairine Green topped spending in Oak Bay during November’s municipal election, doling out $11,767.23 during her campaign according to her campaign financing disclosure statement.

Those who run for office are legally obligated to file their spending report with Elections BC within 120 days following the election.

Mayor Nils Jensen spent $9,839.52 on his winning bid.

Spending for the majority of councillor candidates ranged from Eric Zhelka at $6,470.21 on the high end to Tara Ney at $4,026.90 on the low end, with Jan Mears, $2,690, Andrew Stinson, $1,757, and Joan Russow, $1,704, spending the least on their campaigns for councillor.

The least spent on a campaign was by David Shebib, who declared as a mayoral candidate in all 13 Greater Victoria ridings. His financial disclosure papers filed with Elections BC simply say N/A and nil.
