Greenwood Board of Trade president Martin Huhn will resign effective Thursday, Oct. 15.
Huhn has led the board since he was appointed interim president in September 2019. He was elected president at the board’s annual general meeting in March 2020, he said.

“There’s just too much discord,” on the executive, he told The Times on Tuesday, Oct. 13. “The end result has been me trying to make sure the board is run properly and impartially, but there’s been … too much resistance.”
Huhn said his resignation came down mostly to time constraints. The volunteer firefighter, small business-owner and voice-over artist said his “hundreds of hours” working for the Board has left him precious little time either to relax or focus on his professional life.
“It’s time to move on,” he said.
Meanwhile, the “discord” stems from some of the board’s executive whom Huhn said took exception to his handling of the board’s hosting the all-candidates meeting leading up to the city’s byelection on Saturday, Oct. 10.
“I made some executive decisions as president to ensure that the Board of Trade remained neutral and non-partisan during the local election,” Huhn said, which he added had “ruffled some feathers” among the executive.
“I just don’t have the time to go through and defend my actions right now.”
Huhn said he would stay on as president until Thursday’s general meeting, when he said he would propose an election to determine his successor.
