A groundbreaking ceremony took place Saturday afternoon in Abbotsford at the site of the new Mennonite Central Committee (MCC) BC project on Gladys Avenue.

MCC BC has purchased 8.5 acres to house the MCC Furniture and More and MCC Abby East thrift shops, as well as offices, the Material Resource Centre, Ten Thousand Villages, a cafe and more.

MCC expects to save more than $350,000 a year in lease costs by consolidating the two thrift shops.
