A man accused of fighting with another person outside a church service and then stabbing a second man has pleaded guilty to some of the charges laid against him.
On Monday, 44-year-old Ryan Waters pleaded guilty to two counts of assault causing bodily harm in connection to the Sept. 15 incidents that began outside a Metro Community church service, which was held at the French Cultural Centre on Richter Street.
Police say around 1 p.m. that Sunday, an altercation happened between two people who had attended the church service and one man suffered a head injury.
A second man took off after the assailant as he fled the scene, and was stabbed outside Tonic’s Pub on Ellis Street by the assailant, police say.
A pre-sentence report with a psychiatric component has been ordered and Waters will return to court Dec. 30 to set a sentencing date. He remains in custody, as he has not perfected bail, the court heard.
