Gun scare at Empress hotel a hoax: VicPD

A report that a man had a gun in a suite at the Fairmont Empress hotel Sunday morning is the work of a prankster, police say.

A gun threat called in to the front counter of the hotel around 10 a.m. was quickly deemed a hoax.

“The suites involved were checked and none were associated with anyone attending the David Foster Foundation celebration this weekend,” Mike Tucker, Victoria police spokesperson, said in a statement. “The call seems to be unrelated.”
