A man in possession of illegal drugs and a handgun was arrested after getting of a bus at the Salmon Arm Greyhound terminal on Feb. 15.
The Salmon Arm RCMP were alerted to a man, thought to be in possession of a handgun,who was traveling through Salmon Arm on a bus.
Members of the local detachment’s plainclothes investigation section went to the area and were able to conduct surveillance of the suspect as he exited the bus.
Uniformed members from the local detachment and area Highway Patrol Unit provided additional support to the undercover members.
After a brief period of time the RCMP officers who were watching the subject determined that he was safely away from other passengers and were able to take the man into police custody.
The arrest went without incident and there was no danger posed to public safety.
During the arrest the RCMP officers were able to seize a .22 caliber revolver with obliterated serial numbers, a quantity of cocaine and heroin.
The male is presently in custody and will be facing weapons charges, drug charges as possibly other charges as the investigation continues.
