Police have arrested a suspect after a series of semi-trucks were shot at while travelling along Highway 97.
The RCMP say they received information that led police to believe the suspect vehicle was in the Lower Mainland, in the Chilliwack area.
Police acted on the information, located the suspect vehicle and arrested an individual in connection with these shootings.
The RCMP say they are continuing their investigation.
The individual remains in custody and police say there is no further risk to the public.
Police had been seeking public assistance in locating the vehicle in connection with the series of vehicle shootings.
The suspect vehicle was identified as a blue 2009 Dodge Caliber with four doors. The vehicle has been described as “dirty.” It had an Ontario license plate: CAVM918.
Between 8:30 p.m. on Friday, March 24 and 2:45 a.m. on Saturday, March 25, North District OCC received numerous calls of a vehicle on Highway 97 shooting out radiators and windows of semi- tractor trailers while being operated.
Reports of shots fired at semi-trucks were received near Houston, Burns Lake, Vanderhoof, Clucuz Lake, Prince George, Quesnel and 100 Mile House.
Police urged all commercial truck drivers to inspect their vehicles and report any damage they feel is suspicious in nature to their local police department immediately.
The individual had been considered armed and dangerous.
