The sale has been confirmed: Halcyon Hot Springs is now under new ownership.

The business was purchased from an investor in Vancouver who wishes to remain anonymous for the time being.

Aside from the location of the investor, very little is known about the purchase.

“The owner doesn’t want to be disclosed,” said Sabine Burmeister, general manager for Halcyon Hot Springs. “What we heard from the staff and everybody that works here is that it will be a great new chapter that’s starting for Halcyon.”

The new owners would like to pick up on the original plans to make the resort better by, among other things, improving the condition of current accommodations, adding staff accommodations, and improving human resource structures.

For the now former owners, the timing of the purchase is fortuitous as there have been retirement plans. It was actually these plans to retire from active business that brought about the decision to put the resort on the market.

Though not much is known at the moment, Burmeister thinks this is a positive step for the resort.

“Lots of things will happen here I’m sure,” she said. “It’s nice to see this next step of development for such a treasure that we have here in the valley. We’ve been growing slowly over the years, but it’s nice to see it grow further.”
