Rail said the RCMP’s “critical incident response protocols” were put in place, which included the blocking off of Hodgins Avenue in both directions, along with part of the Chilliwack Coliseum parking lot directly across the street.

After a brief standoff, the suspect was arrested without incident, Rail said on Thursday.

“Officers called him to come out and he came out,” Rail said.

A number of other individual also came out of the residence, one of whom did not comply with directions from police. He was taken into custody as was the 30-year-old man who allegedly pointed the handgun, Rail said.

On Thursday, RCMP were still at the scene waiting for a search warrant for the premises.

No names connected to the incident have been released.
