Happy Canada 150 Revelstoke!

Revelstoke celebrates Canada's 150th with parade, festivities in Queen Elizabeth Park and fireworks

Canada Day festivities were a huge success in Revelstoke on Saturday.

Hundreds of people dressed in red lined the parade route, while dozens of community groups walked down First Street and Mackenzie Avenue on their way to Queen Elizabeth Park.

Parade

There was a big celebration there, complete with bouncy castles, face painting, a beer garden, live music by the Time Benders and, of course, the Modern’s traditional Canada Day cake.

Revelstoke Fire Rescue Services, which is celebrating its 125th anniversary, held a firefighters fitness contest in the park that required them to navigate an obstacle course while dressed in full gear in the sweltering heat.

Later, they marked their anniversary with a firefighter’s gala dinner and dance at the community centre.

Outside, people gaped and cheered at the fireworks show that was put on by the city, the Revelstoke Credit Union and Revelstoke Mountain Resort.

All in all, it was a fitting way to celebrate Canada’s 150th birthday.
