Halloween is lighting up across the North Okanagan with tricks and treats for all ages.
Fireworks and other spooktacular events are planned in virtually every community on Monday.
n Vernon has two trick or treat trails planned for little ghosts and goblins.
The Downtown Vernon Halloween Treat Trail goes from 3 to 5 p.m. at participating businesses on and around 30th Avenue. Pick up a Treat Trail map at the DVA office.
Or head indoors for the Village Green Centre Trick or Treat Halloween Trail from 4 to 5 p.m.
Those on the hunt for thrills and chills can visit the Okanagan Science Centre’s Haunted House (beside Polson Park).
The junior haunted house continues today and Monday from noon to 4 p.m. Tickets are $5 for members and $6 for non-members.
Or you can pay $7 to get in ($6 for members) and pray to get out at the Carnival of Screams from 6 to 9 p.m. today and Monday.
- The Okanagan Landing Fire Department lights up the night with fireworks, hot chocolate and goodie bags at Marshall Field at 7 p.m.
- Bring your little ghosts and goblins up to the BX-Swan Lake Fire Department for a bonfire and concession starting at 6 p.m., followed by fireworks at 8 on Halloween.
- Kalamalka Lake Beach will be another hot spot as the Coldstream Fire Department serves up free hot chocolate around a bonfire at 7 p.m., with some help from the Vernon Vipers. “The fireworks are at 8 p.m. sharp and we do them right off the dock,” said Coldstream fire chief Dave Sturgeon.
- The Lavington Fire Department will also be hosting its annual fireworks show at 8 p.m. in Lavington Park. There will also be a concession at the hall starting at 6. “It’s an annual tradition,” said Lavington fire chief Terry Garrington.
- The skies will be lit up in Lumby at 8 p.m. with the best viewing spot at the J.W. Inglis Elementary playground. Free hot chocolate will also be served from 7 to 8 p.m. by the Whitevalley Community Resource Centre and Community Pride Program youth.
- In Armstrong the Annual Haunted House runs from 6 to 9 p.m. at the IPE fairgrounds in the red barn. Tickets for the Len Wood Middle School hosted event are $3/person or $5/family. There will be a bonfire, hot dogs and hot chocolate at 7 p.m. at the fairgrounds, before the Armstrong Spallumcheen Fire Department sets off fireworks at 7:45.
- In Enderby the Lions Club is hosting Halloween from 6 to 8 p.m. with a haunted house walk along the river. Hot dogs and refreshments will be available as well as a bonfire at 7 p.m.
- The Falkland and District Halloween Party gets underway at the stampede grounds at 7:30 p.m. with a bonfire, hot dogs and hot chocolate and fireworks at 8 p.m.
- Oyama Community Club will be serving up hot chocolate and goodies around a bonfire at the Oyama Community Club from 6 to 8 p.m.
