Man wanted in relation to a shooting in Fleetwood on Monday.

Police are asking for public help in identifying the man responsible for a brazen mid-day shooting last week.

On March 13, Birinderjeet Justin Bhangu pulled his Acura MDX in front of the Comfort Inn and Suites in the mid-afternoon in Fleetwood.

A man in a Nissan Pathfinder was parked nearby, and at 2:23 p.m., approached Bhangu’s car, firing rounds at the 29-year-old Surrey resident.

The suspect ran back to his Pathfinder, took off northbound on Fraser Highway.

His vehicle was found the next day in Kelowna.

Bhangu is known to police and, while a motive hasn’t been confirmed, it is believed that this shooting was as a result of his criminal lifestyle.

Police say it was an extremely careless act of violence.

“Members of the community, the general public and even those entrenched in this lifestyle themselves should be outraged by the arrogance and inhumanity that was exhibited on this day,” said Staff Sgt. Jennifer Pound. “This was a shooting in broad daylight in an area where families and community members frequent.  For this, we need anyone with information about this individual to come forward.”
