Abbotsford is building a 40-bed temporary winter homeless shelter on Riverside Road – which will open in a few weeks.

By mid-January, Mayor Henry Braun says the city will begin to take down the homeless protest camp on Gladys Avenue, which has been there since 2013.

In October, the B.C. Supreme Court told cities they need to let people sleep in parks, though they don’t have to allow permanent encampments.
