The Surrey Museum’s Vintage Christmas event is back.
Families are invited to join Santa Claus and the Society of Versatile Entertainers for an afternoon of ’50s themed fun at the museum this Saturday, Dec. 17 from 1 to 4 p.m.
Partygoers can help themselves to apple cider and cookies, search the history gallery in an Elf-on-the-Shelf scavenger hunt and craft holiday decorations, including paper caroling stars, tinsel wreaths and candy cane ornaments.
Santa Claus will make his grand entrance at 1:15 p.m. to a community serenade of Here Comes Santa Claus. Afterwards, you’re welcome to take a photo with Santa and join in a Christmas singalong with music made popular in the 1950s.
The Versatiles will perform in the museum lobby at 1:45 p.m., 2:45 p.m. and 3:45 p.m. The local group, a favourite among children and seniors alike, will put on a “Magical Christmas” with dancing and singing.
The Surrey Museum is located at 17710 56A Avenue and is open Tuesday to Friday from 9:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and on Sunday from noon to 5 p.m. The museum will be closed for maintenance from Dec. 24 to Feb. 7.
Admission is sponsored by the Friends of the Surrey Museum Society. For more information, call 604-592-6952 or visit www.surrey.ca/heritage.
