It’s getting easier to breathe in Maple Ridge and Pitt Meadows, sort of. Metro Vancouver’s air quality map shows an air quality health index reading of five for both cities, on a scale where 10 is worst, as of early Thursday morning.
But over a 24-hour period, the level of fine particulate matter, in this case wood smoke from the hundreds of wildfires burning in B.C., reached a reading of nine in Pitt Meadows. The air quality advisory was renewed by Metro Vancouver early Thursday and was expanded to include ground-level ozone.
Relief is expected in a few days however.
Environment Canada is calling for possibility of showers on Friday, with a high of only 20 C. Saturday and Sunday, the temperatures will be a degree cooler, with a chance of showers.
Pitt Meadows high on Wednesday was 28 C.
