A head-on collision involving two vehicles occurred on the 5400-block of Sooke Rd yesterday around 7 p.m.
According to Fire Chief Steve Sorensen, the jaws of life were used to extricate both drivers from their vehicles, which were severely damaged. Both occupants were taken to hospital.
He said volunteer firefighter, Tom Warran, who was on his way home from work, arrived on the scene before emergency responders.
When Warren arrived, one vehicle was in the middle of the road, leaking fluids and the other vehicle was over the embankment and on fire. He used a fire extinguisher to put out the flames.
More to come.
