Henman family present for sentencing

A Christmas Eve court date ended with a 2½ year prison sentence and eight year driving prohibition.

Nelson singer Pat Henman‘s family is relieved that the trial of Shara Bakos, the woman who nearly killed her and her daughter Maia in a head-on collision, has reached a conclusion.

The Henman family was in attendance on Christmas Eve as Bakos received a two-year prison sentence, with an additional six months for driving while prohibited.

Bakos also received an eight-year driving prohibition that started the day the sentence was passed down. The Crown also asked that her DNA be taken and kept on record.

“We are glad that this is over. It has been 18 months since the accident; it has been a long wait for this part of the journey to end and we just want to move on with our lives,” said Henman.

“Thanks to our friends, family and community for supporting us. We would not be as strong without them.”
