The Town of Qualicum Beach wants an illumination consultant to review a number of locations where LED street light complaints from residents have been received.
Coun. Anne Skipsey made the notice of motion at a special council meeting on July 28. She indicated that modifications that might be considered should include light location, reduced wattage, colour temperature, luminaire type, length of arm, height and orientation.
She added any recommended changes be implemented as a pilot project and that all data collected and recommendations be presented for consideration at a future committee of the whole meeting.

Council unanimously endorsed the motion.
The issue of high-beam lights was raised by residents who reported struggling to get much-needed rest and the negative impact it have on their health. Some residents want the brightness of the LED-lights toned down. The lights were installed 12 years ago to keep the roads safe.
