One person is dead after a high-speed collision on the Haney Bypass on Friday night.

The incident occurred just before 7:30 p.m. in the 22700-block of Lougheed Highway, and involved two vehicles, with significant damage being dealt to both sedans.

According to Ridge Meadows RCMP, emergency crews had to work to remove trapped passengers, with one person succumbing to their injuries at the scene.

Speed is believed to be a factor in the crash, with police still investigating the incident.
