High-speed motorcycle ride comes to crashing halt

Glenmore Road used in unsuccessful get away for possibly prohibited driver.

A high speed motorcycle chase ended off Beaver Lake Road in Lake Country at the north end of Glenmore Road just before 3 p.m. Monday, March 19.

The motorcycle driver sustained serious injuries as a result of a collision with an SUV.

It began about 2:45 p.m when a member of the RCMP Central Okanagan Traffic Services attempted to pull the motorcyclist over. The motorbike driver sped off in an attempt to evade police but the RCMP Helicopter Air 3 was in the air and followed its progress south on Glenmore Road.

The bike was observed driving at extremely high speeds and passing on double lines before making a U-turn to head north on Glenmore.

The motorbike continued at a high rate of speed until crashing into an SUV on Glenmore Road at Beaver Lake Road.

The motorbike driverĀ  sustained serious injuries but by Monday afternoon they did not appear to be life-threatening.

The investigation is ongoing and police are yet to determine what charges may be recommended.
