Wires down, traffic backed up
Traffic has been snarled since early this morning after power wires were knocked down along Old Dewdney Trunk Road west of Harris Road in Pitt Meadows.
According to BC Hydro’s power outages map 109 customers have been without power since 5:20 a.m. That’s caused the shutdown of the intersection at Harris Road and Old Dewdney Trunk Road, says the City of Pitt Meadows.
“Damaging winds have made landfall on the Lower Mainland, Sunshine Coast and East Vancouver Island causing several large outages,” says BC Hydro. A repair crew was supposed to be on scene by 8 a.m.
According to the Pitt Meadows Fire Department ,Old Dewdney Trunk Road from Lougheed Highway to Harris Road will be closed at least until noon. As well, two collisions in either direction on Lougheed Highway near Kennedy Road jammed traffic this morning. Those accidents however have been cleared recently.
