A Vernon man remains in hospital after his vehicle went over an embankment Sunday.

The 21-year-old drove off the embankment at the four kilometre marker of Cosens Bay Road around 5:40 p.m. and fled from the car with a stick impaled in his neck.

“He was located by a hiker and near Cosens Bay Beach where he was taken to the waiting ambulance by Vernon Search and Rescue,” said Gord Molendyk, RCMP spokesperson.

“The man was taken to VJH for treatment of his injuries he is still being treated there this morning.”

Charges are being considered for driving under suspension.

“There’s an indication that the individual shouldn’t have been driving.”
