Avid reader of historical books Anneli Jaakkola was the lucky winner of the Northern Sentinel /Smith Publishers book competition held in November last year.
Anneli received her copy of World War I Crusaders by special delivery from Smith Publishers in the U.S., an early Christmas present.
The book is a 700-page account of a daring mission to save Belgians besieged by armies from both the Allies and the Germans from starvation.
Northern Sentinel columnist and historian Walter Thorne reviewed the book, written by Denver-based historian Author Jeffrey Miller.
The publishing of World War I Crusaders was scheduled for 2018 to mark the 100th anniversary of the end of World War I.
