Hit and run driver brings injured to hospital

Burns Lake RCMP detachment received a report of a pedestrian injured in the area of the 200 block, Hwy. 16 in Burns Lake, B.C.

On Mar. 29, 2014 at approximately 2:42 a.m. the Burns Lake RCMP detachment received a report of a pedestrian injured in the area of the 200 block, Hwy. 16 in Burns Lake, B.C.

Police investigation to date has determined that two adolescent females were walking westbound along Hwy. 16 in the area of the Real Canadian Wholesale Gas Bar. The driver of an eastbound blue coloured car veered towards the pedestrian’s and struck a 16 year old female. The driver of the blue car exited the car and proceeded to load the injured pedestrian into the car before transporting the two pedestrian’s to the Lakes District Hospital. The driver of the car departed the Lakes District Hospital prior to police arrival.

Police later located the suspect car at a property east of Burns Lake and have seized the motor vehicle while the driver of the car has yet to come forward to speak to police. Support services including the Prince George Traffic Services Unit, the Prince George Forensic Identification Section, Prince George city detachment, the Burns Lake RCMP Victim Services and the Burns Lake Citizens on Patrol have assisted the Burns Lake detachment in this investigation.

The injured pedestrian was transported by ground ambulance to Prince George with non-life threatening injuries.
