It was a weekend jam packed with hockey for players from Fort St. James.

The Tykes took to the ice and played Fraser Lake and Vanderhoof.

For many of these players, the experience was still quite fresh since just starting their first year of hockey.

The initiation Program, I/P Cross Ice, is proven to provide young players from ages 5 – 8 with a foundation of early skills development.

And it certainly did prove so as players made their way across the ice while I/P 3/4 players also showed their skills throughout the day.

According to B.C. Hockey, the benefits of playing cross-ice are to teach foundational skills but while having fun at the same time.

And as for the older players on full ice, the Peewees won first place in their tournament in Burns Lake.

The Fort St. James Stars won against Burns Lake in the final game, 3 – 4.
