Paperwork will be tackled and phone calls answered in between Christmas carols and eggnog.
Vernon city hall and the operations department will be open on non-statutory holidays between Christmas and New Year’s Day.
“My philosophy is customer service is No. 1,” said Will Pearce, chief administrative officer.
“We’re open for our customers. It sends the correct message that we’re open for business.”
The hours for city hall are:
Dec. 24 – 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Dec. 25 and 26 – closed
Dec. 27 and 28 – 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Dec. 31 – 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Jan. 1 – closed
The hours for the operations department are:
Dec. 24 – 7:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
Dec. 25 and 26 – Closed
Dec. 27 and 28 – 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Dec. 31 – 7:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
Jan. 1 – closed
In previous years, city hall was shut down completely between Christmas and New Year’s Day.
“It (this year) is different from the past but we don’t talk about the past. We always look forward,” said Pearce, who took on his new duties as CAO in June.
