Vavenby resident Brenda Mirasty believes that Christmas miracles do happen.

On Aug. 31 she went to Dee’s General Store in Birch Island to buy a $20 Pure Luxury scratch ticket; there were only two left.

Mirasty won $40 on the one that she bought.

On Sept. 1 she went back to Birch Island and bought the last of those tickets. Mirasty won a Mercedes Benz car, though she decided to take the money—$50,000— instead.

When asked what she is going to do with the money she said it is being used for Christmas and the rest will be saved.

Mirasty joyfully exclaimed, “It was a blessing, I’m thrilled, and I’m still on Cloud Nine.”
