A home on Hawthorne Avenue suffered smoke and fire damage on New Year's Eve.



An Abbotsford home was damaged by a fire that began in the kitchen just before midnight on New Year’s Eve.

Crews from Abbotsford Fire Rescue Service were called to the home on Hawthorne Avenue at 11:55 p.m. When they arrived, they found smoke coming from the home and a fire in the kitchen.

No one was injured in the incident.

Assistant fire chief Craig Bird said the home suffered significant fire and smoke damage.

The cause of the fire is not yet known.
