Dixon Dam Road home offers invaluable training for BX-Swan Lake Fire Rescue

A BX home was purposely burnt to the ground Sunday.

BX-Swan Lake Fire Rescue recently acquired the older home, on Dixon Dam Road, and has been using it for fire training purposes.

“We’ve got an immeasurable amount of training out of all of this,” said fire chief Bill Wacey. “It’s been extremely beneficial.”

The department, along with all area fire departments, normally practices at the fire training centre. But having a live structure is an invaluable experience for all members. Therefore Silver Star firefighters also took part in the training at the BX home.

When the home was lit up Sunday, a number of neighbours, friends and family also came by to witness the incident alongside the firefighting crews.
