Housing starts in the Vernon area maintained a steady pace in July

Housing starts in the Vernon area maintained a steady pace in July.

Statistics released by the Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation show there were 26 housing starts in Vernon in July, up from 16 in July 2012.

There were 14 single-detached starts in the month and 12 multiples.

For the year to date, there have been 107 housing starts in 2013 in Vernon, of which 70 are single-detached homes.

Over the same time period a year ago, there were 98 starts, 69 of them single-detached dwellings.

Housing starts were up in Kelowna and Kamloops in July.

There were 76 starts in Kelowna in the month, up from 68 in July 2012, while in Kamloops there were 24 starts, up from 21 over the same month the year before.
