Honda Civic contest in finals

Five lucky contestants will be chosen out of the 3,200 entries for a chance to drive away a winner with Bannister Honda

Five lucky contestants will be chosen out of the 3,200 entries for a chance to drive away a winner with Bannister Honda.

Finalists will be announced Friday in The Morning Star for the Sick Civic contest where one lucky person will win a $25,000 tricked out Honda Civic. The 2003 Civic Coupe features new tires and wheels, wicked paint and graphics, a new exhaust and thumping stereo.

The big giveaway will take place Saturday at 2 p.m. in Polson Park during Vernon Winter Carnival’s Family Day.

“I have five keys and one of them starts the vehicle,” said Pat Loehndorf, Bannister Honda general manager.

A skill testing question will determine who gets the first pick of the keys, which will be held by five of the giveaway sponsors – The Morning Star, Sun FM, Peters Tirecraft, AutoSound Plus and The Bulldog Hotel.

“There’s a little piece of all of us in this prize,” said Loehndorf, thanking all of the sponsors.

While one winning key holder will drive away with the Sick Civic, the remaining finalists won’t walk away empty handed.

“The remaining people will get a consolation prize,” said Loehndorf, of a dinner for two prize.

Those wanting to check out the Civic can do so at Bannister GM today and Thursday before it rolls over to The Morning Star (4407-25th Avenue) Friday.

The contest has proven so successful that it could culminate into an annual event.

“There’s plans in the works to do a Sick Civic Two,” said Loehndorf.
