The Hosmer Fire Department would like to extend a thank you to an anonymous gift donor.

On May 23, an intricately handcarved wooden plaque was found resting in front of the door of the Hosmer Firehall. The plaque reads ‘Proud to be a firefighter’, and is adorned with carvings of firetrucks, fire extinguishers, fire hoses, and firemen. On the back, the donor printed the words ‘thank you for being there’.

“We would like to say thank you to whoever donated the gift to us,” said Michael Hockley, deputy fire chief for the Regional District of East Kootenay Elk Valley and South Country fire services. “It shows that the public continues to have faith in us, and continues to support us.”

Hockley reminds the community that the Hosmer Fire Department remains open for business, committing themselves to ensuring residents remain safe throughout the pandemic.
