Sirens screeched through town about 4 a.m. Saturday, as firefighters responded to a blaze at a residence at the top of Shoemaker Hill. The home, at the corner of 4th Street SE and 12th Avenue SE, was completely destroyed. It's not know if anyone was in the home when the fire started. Police and firefighters were sifting through the debris at the light of day.

Firefighters quickly extinguished a blaze at the top of Shoemaker Hill early Saturday.
