One woman suffered from smoke inhalation after a fire hit a Langley City townhouse complex Friday at noon.
Firefighters were called out to a report of smoke coming from an upper floor window. By the time they arrived at the home in the 20300 block of 53rd Avenue, fire was visible through the same window, said City fire chief Rory Thompson.
It didn’t take long to get the fire out – about 30 seconds after firefighters hooked up and turned on their hoses.
However, the fire had already done a significant amount of damage to one unit, and another unit suffered some minor water damage, Thompson said.
“The good thing is, they have insurance,†he said.
One neighbour was checked out by ambulance crews for smoke inhalation, and may have been taken to the hospital to be examined.
The cause of the two-alarm fire was not yet clear on Friday. Investigators were on the scene.
